St. Joan Antida's Aquaponics Lab

St. Joan Antida's Aquaponics Lab


St. Joan Antida High School created their own functioning aquaponics lab for their classroom.



Many different types of fish can be used to sustain a small aquaponics system - St. Joan Antida uses goldfish.



They are currently growing their first plants!


A few of St. Joan's students were able to showcase their project at a local health fair.



They were also able to purchase a high-tech Smart Garden to help their vegetation grow.

Riverwest COA's Water Industry Interviews


Riverwest COA's Lead to Succeed team interviewed many water industry professionals in the Milwaukee area.


 They were also able to partake in several tours of water industry businesses, including Badger Meter (as seen here).







Beasty Barrels

Lead to Succeed students at Neu Life Community Resource Center have created their own business designing and selling rain barrels. They even won the Common Pitch High School Division competition in 2012!

Students from Riverwest COA's Lead to Succeed team created their own remix of Kendrick Lamar's "Swimming Pools."


Not only did they rewrite the song, but they recorded and edited it themselves!

Kickoff Conference

2012-2013 Kickoff Conference


Students gathered at UW-Milwaukee for the annual Lead to Succeed Kickoff Conference.


They participated in many workshops and leadership activities.




They were also given the opportunity to share their project ideas.




Meet-Ups

Lead to Succeed Meet-Ups


Several times per year, all of the Lead to Succeed students are invited to Open MiKE for a Meet-Up.


Romke de Haan, a local DJ and the President of Spreenkler, a creative media agency, joined the students for some spinning. He also shared his motivational story with the students.


Meet-Ups include a lot of fun, some food, guest speakers, as well as a few activities that can assist the students with their service learning project.


Monti Moore was the guest speaker at the first meet-up of 2012. Monti is a part of Project Return, an organization that assists people who have been incarcerated make a successful return to the community.


 Monti shared his personal experiences with the students.

Karthauser & Sons, Inc. is a wholesale florist in Germantown, Wisconsin.


Lead to Succeed students visited the facility to learn about the business' use of green energy and the large-scale plant production process.
